Overview

Most bedside clocks apologise for existing — small, plastic, face-down by week two. Perch™ does the opposite. A round metal head lifts on a slender stem from a weighted disc base, standing 22 cm tall so the dial meets your eye instead of your mattress. You can read it from the doorway. The movement sweeps in silence, so the only thing it adds to a quiet room is the ability to know the time without reaching for a screen that will keep you awake another forty minutes.

Care

Wipe the painted metal with a dry soft cloth; a barely damp cloth for marks, dried straight away. Lift it by the head, not the stem. Remove the battery if it will sit unused for months.

Materials

Powder-coated metal head, stem and weighted disc base, with a clear lens over a white analog dial. Silent quartz movement with alarm. Battery powered — battery not included. Size: approx. 22 cm tall, dial approx. 9 cm across, base approx. 9 cm; weight approx. 310 g.

Sage Perch™ clock on a pale oak desk beside books and a fern

Tall enough to notice

At 22 cm it stands with the books and the fern rather than hiding behind them — a piece of quiet sculpture that happens to keep perfect time.

Hand lifting the cream Perch™ clock by its head on an oak shelf

Light in the hand

Solid metal, but small enough to move with one hand — desk in the morning, nightstand by evening, wherever you need the hour at a glance.

Perch™ benefits: silent movement, solid metal, 22 cm tall

Why Perch

A silent metal clock raised on a slender stem, in sage or cream — legible from across the room, quiet enough to forget it's there.

I can read it without my glasses

That's the whole reason I bought it and it delivered. The dial sits up at eye height on the nightstand, so a squint from the pillow is enough. Sage is a lovely soft colour.

Heavier than expected, in a good way

The base has real weight to it so the tall stem never wobbles, even when I knock the desk. Feels like proper metal, not a painted shell.

Silent enough for a light sleeper

I hear everything at night and this makes no sound at all. Bought the cream one for the guest room and my sister asked where it was from before she'd unpacked.

Frequently asked questions

How tall is it really?
About 22 cm from base to the top of the head — roughly the height of a wine bottle — with a dial around 9 cm across. That height is the point: it clears books and lamps so the time stays visible.
Does it tick?
No. The movement sweeps continuously rather than stepping, so there's no audible tick even in a silent bedroom.
Is it stable on a narrow nightstand?
Yes — the disc base is weighted and only about 9 cm across, so it holds the stem steady while taking up less space than a coffee cup.
What powers it?
A battery, not included — no cable, no charging, and it keeps time straight through a power cut. Nothing on your nightstand needs an outlet.
Sage or cream?
Sage is the softer, greener choice and sits beautifully against oak and clay; cream disappears into pale plaster walls and lets the silhouette do the talking. Both carry the same white dial.
Bedroom or desk?
Both, and it moves easily between them. On a desk the raised dial sits above an open laptop; on a nightstand it replaces the phone you'd otherwise reach for at 3 a.m.
