A big wall clock is usually a big disc. You end up hanging a dinner plate of white plastic on a wall you spent a long time getting the colour of, and it sits there being the loudest thing in the room.

Float™ removes the dial altogether. Twelve separate 3D numerals stick straight onto the plaster in a 40 cm circle, and a small 7 cm hub carries the hands in the middle. There is no backing plate and no rim, so your wall becomes the face — the limewash, the paint, the texture, whatever you have. Each numeral stands 5 mm proud, which means side light gives every one of them its own soft shadow.

It goes up with a paper template and adhesive pads, not a drill, so it works on a wall you are not allowed to make holes in. The movement is silent sweep quartz on one AA battery. If you ever want it somewhere else, the numerals lift off and the spacing is yours to change.

Care

Dust the numerals with a dry soft cloth or a clean make-up brush; they are light enough that you should hold each one steady with a fingertip while you do it. Do not use a damp cloth on the adhesive edge and never use solvent cleaner, which will lift the pads. Change the battery once a year. To remove a numeral, warm it gently with a hairdryer for a few seconds and peel slowly rather than pulling.

How big is it once it is up?
The numerals lay out to a circle 40 cm across (15.7 in), which is about the size of a vinyl record sleeve. The hub in the middle is 7 cm and the numerals themselves run 3–7 cm tall. You can space them slightly wider if you want to fill more wall — the hands still point true.
Will it stick to my wall?
It holds well on smooth painted plaster, plasterboard, glass, tile and sealed wood. It does NOT hold on heavy textured wallpaper, raw brick, unsealed lime or anything chalky and dusty. Wipe the wall and let it dry fully first — most failures are a dusty surface, not weak adhesive.
Does it come off without damage?
On sound modern paint, yes — warm each numeral with a hairdryer for a few seconds and peel it slowly rather than pulling it straight off. On old, flaking or freshly painted walls the pads can take a little paint with them, so test one numeral in a low spot first if that matters.
How hard is it to get straight?
Use the printed paper template that comes in the box — tape it up, level it once, and every numeral has a marked position. It is the one step worth not rushing. Freehand spacing looks fine while you are doing it and obviously wrong from the doorway afterwards.
Is it noisy?
No. The hub uses a silent sweep movement, so the hands glide rather than step and there is no tick. It takes one AA battery, which is not included — fit a fresh alkaline one and expect roughly a year.
Black or silver?
Matte Black is the higher-contrast choice and the one to pick on cream, limewash or any pale wall — it is what we photographed. Brushed Silver is much quieter and works best on a mid or darker wall, or when you want the shadows to read more than the numerals themselves.
